The Grand Canal, North End-ish
If you have been here before and know me well, you are probably wondering as you are reading the title of this post : "What the heck were you doing there?!" I wondered the same thing as I walked through the doors of The Grand Canal at 1:30 am Friday night...
I won't lie - I have been here before. Two summers ago, my ex-boyfriend and girlfriends came here for a masquerade party. I walked in blindly not knowing what to expect but tried to keep an open mind. After my experience there that night, I promised myself I would never come back here. Little did I know that two years later, I would find myself here - the only girl there sipping on my pinot grigio shaking my head in disgust at what was happening around me...
In a nutshell, we walked into a dance bar, ready to shut down, adorned with the trashiest, chubbiest, yuckiest girls I have EVER seen in my life. If I didn't know any better, I'd think they were street workers. Now, don't get me wrong - I have nothing against women with a little extra padding on them, but I found it weird that almost everyone there was HUGE!
In any case, we were mildly entertained. Twenty minutes later, we were kicked out as they were closing down. I didn't just write this post to judge The Grand Canal but mainly to warn anyone interested in going. Maybe The Grand Canal is a different place in the daytime, but the two times I've been there at night, have been interesting to say the least.
Time for bed... bon soir! XOXO
